NHL Thursday: 𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐌𝐋 +𝟏𝟏𝟕 (𝟏𝐮) Devils might be a little overhyped right now, and the Rangers’ depth is highly overlooked. Both teams have plenty of offensive upside, but contrary to popular belief, I think the Rangers have the edge in net, especially with shaky Daws in net for the Devils (probably partially why the line moved in favor of NYR, and I don't want to hear from you CLV nerds today lol). Dorofeyev is ready to explode any minute; Rangers have great overall team chemistry... and let’s be real, what home advantage? This is basically a neutral-site game anyway. 𝐌𝐀𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐅𝐒 𝐌𝐋 -𝟏𝟏𝟒 (𝟏𝐮) I know everyone loves to rag on the Leafs and is probably waiting for them to fall apart, but I actually think they’re a dangerous team right now. Marchenko and McKenna have been great additions to a team that probably wasn’t as bad as last season’s finish made them look. I feel the opposite about Buffalo. They’re a good young team on the rise, but I think they might be getting a little too much hype off last season. They’re probably somewhere between last year’s division-winning team and the mess they were for most of the previous decade. Losing some key pieces in the offseason, along with Rasmus Dahlin being out, really hurts them. I know Toronto is coming home from the road trip of death, but I think they’ll be fired up to make a statement against a rival tonight. They’ve got the firepower to get the job done, especially with Bobrovsky likely back in net. 𝐅𝐋𝐘𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐌𝐋 +𝟏𝟐𝟐 (𝟏𝐮) Everything has already been said in previous write-ups about this team. Now, this is pretty much just me wanting to be there for their first win, at plus money. The good news is that they did show some fight against the Kraken a couple of nights ago, and you gotta think that playing a full 60 is a hyperfocus today, especially against another bad team. 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐒 𝐌𝐋 +𝟏𝟐𝟎 (𝟏𝐮) Both teams have been satisfactory so far, but I think it is the Sharks that have found themselves back in the undervalue camp. I think SJ is the far more dangerous roster, and they should be coming to play tonight after a poor showing against the Bruins on Tuesday. When this roster is motivated and clicking, it is a deadly mix of top-end talent, effective veterans, and rising and developing high-ceiling kids. Nashville is a team with a lack of identity/direction, leaning on aging veterans to continue to produce, and I think they will be outmatched tonight. 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐇𝐀𝐖𝐊𝐒 𝐌𝐋 +𝟏𝟏𝟐 (𝟏𝐮) While Winnipeg is impressive so far, this story should be about the Blackhawks and how they can build off that win with Bedard back in the lineup. Normally in hockey, I wouldn't put too much emphasis on one guy, but Bedard is the glue on this team. Chicago suddenly becomes a threat, and I think Skinner is very susceptible to high-danger situations, which I feel the Hawks will create today. 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐒 𝐌𝐋 +𝟐𝟔𝟔 (𝟏𝐮) This was a funny way to end the card for sure, and I don't blame you if you go half a unit or don't tail this one at all...But I think Calgary might surprise with the momentum off their first win of the season. You never know, but VGK could very well be subconsciously taking the Flames lightly tonight. Even though the Flames look like an AHL lineup at best, a determined team can create the right bounces, get many shots on goal, and focus on some decent defense, as they did against Anaheim. Here's to praying and hoping.
